Today I travelled over to Derby to have my work assessed by the BIPP (British Institute of Professional Photography). I was going for a licentiateship in wedding photography and so had to submit a working profile and a panel of twenty images to be judged by some of the best photographers in Britain… very nerve-racking!
At school and university, sit down exams never bothered me too much. The tests I always found the most traumatic were those where you come face to face with the enemy: driving tests, piano exams etc. and this was one of those occasions. Having said that, all the judges were lovely and they gave me some really constructive advice about how to take my photography forward. Most importantly, I passed the test and am now a qualified licentiate of the BIPP! : )
