A wise person once said, “play is the beginning of knowledge”. As a child, building dens was one of my all time favourite pursuits. Whether it was constructed from stiff sofa cushions or sticks and twigs, I just loved the idea of making my own space where I could keep all my treasured possessions.
During the summer holidays I remember spending days and days endeavouring to build the perfect den, often roping my younger brother or an unfortunate friend into the seemingly endless challenge too! When I stumbled across these woodland dens, all those fond memories came flooding back…
…I love the idea of my own children one day spending hours in the garden building a den; using their imagination, sourcing their materials and creating a space of their very own.
