I first met Jenna & Chris in the Boathouse Pub in September 2011, when they booked me to photograph their wedding coming up in June this year.  Since then I have photographed Jenna’s grandparents’ Golden Wedding Anniversary and Jenna’s pack of adorable dogs!  As a photographer, I can’t tell you how lovely it is when you find clients who get what you do and truly appreciate the way you see the world.

When I asked Jenna & Chris whether they’d mind my shooting their session on film, there was no hesitation.  And when we met up towards the end of February in my hometown of Parkgate, two hours of shooting turned into four hours of shooting plus a break for chips along the promenade… and yes, there are three forks in the chips!

Thanks for being such good sports guys, it was a pleasure as always.

Positioned in a peaceful spot on the north coast of Cornwall is the sleepy fishing village of Port Isaac, well known from the television series ‘Doc Martin’ or as home to the shanty singing group ‘Fishermen’s Friends’.  A visit here is always on my list of things to do whenever I visit Cornwall.

The sea front is comfortingly familiar but I love to wander up the narrow, winding streets and explore the path less trodden…

So I’m a big fan of English country estates.  Visiting a house as impressive as Castle Howard brings out the architect, the historian and the photographer in me and I love it!  I love exploring these historic buildings and taking a glimpse into our past.

Castle Howard was designed for the 3rd Earl of Carlisle by one of England’s most legendary architects, Sir John Vanbrugh.  It was completed in 1712 and walking around the splendid house today, you can’t help but wonder what fascinating tales you’d learn if only the walls could speak.

And yes, this visit was a family affair – puppy and all  : )

I spent the last couple of days in November wandering the streets of Venice with my Contax and a camera bag full of black & white film.

Let me tell you, even on the bleakest of winter days, the colours of this beautiful city never cease to inspire me.  At times it was very frustrating limiting myself to monochrome, but I’ve wanted to get to know black & white film better for a while now and it was great to approach my frames differently. Instead of looking for colour, I was looking for contrasting tones, strong lines and patterns and that’s certainly no bad thing.
